Singer and composer Jay-Z has been in the news for his name in Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ sexual assault case of allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000. According to the reports, the lawsuit was updated on Sunday to include the American rapper’s name. As per to the accuser, Jane Doe, the assault occurred after she accepted an invitation to an after-party for the MTV Video Music Awards.

In October the lawsuit was filed by Texas lawyer Tony Buzbee in New York, and now includes the name of rapper Shawn Carter (also known as Jay-Z), as per the reports.

Speaking about the incident, the complainant also says that a limousine driver posing as Diddy’s employee invited her to a party after dropping her off at the award show without a ticket. She signed what she believed to be a nondisclosure agreement after being brought to a house. As per the alleged accuser she was drugged at the party. She also claimed that both Jay-Z and Diddy assaulted her.

Jay-Z openly refuted the accusations, describing them as false and asserting that the person who made the accusation was wrong to judge him. His lawyer claimed that Tony Buzbee, the accuser’s attorney tried to ‘blackmail’ him for a settlement. He wrote in the statement, “What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle. No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!!”

He further added, “These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whoever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”

“My only heartbreak is for my family. My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people. You have made a terrible error in judgment thinking that all ‘celebrities’ are the same. I’m not from your moral world. I’m a young man who made it out of the project of Brooklyn,” wrote the singer.

He concluded, “We don’t play these types of games. We have very strict codes and honour. We protect children, you seem to exploit people for personal gain. Only your network of conspiracy theorists, fake physics, will believe the idiotic claims you have levied against me that, if not for the seriousness surrounding harm to kids, would be laughable.”

For the unversed, Diddy is still in detention after being previously arrested on allegations of sexual assault, sex trafficking, and racketeering. He will go on trial in May 2025 after his bail request was denied.
